Governance

We recognise that having a strong Sustainability Governance structure complements our Sustainability Roadmap and ensures progress towards our goals and objectives.

Our internal ESG team is led by our Global ESG Director, Madlen Jannaschk, who is involved in decision-making alongside other leaders in our Practice, including Partners and Directors. Our ESG Director also directly reports to our global Management Board.

Our internal ESG team is integral to put this commitment into action by setting our direction and implementing initiatives to continue operating in an environmentally, socially, and economically responsible manner. The team operates with a highly integrated approach collaborating very closely with other internal teams including Finance, IT, HR, Compliance, Business Development and Marketing, Legal and Operations, as well as project teams, Partners and global and regional Management Boards.

This approach ensures that sustainability is not a standalone initiative and remains a thread throughout everything we do, just as it has been for the last five decades.

Our risk management framework includes ethical business practices, environmental responsibility, and social accountability which is being reviewed and modified regularly by our Global Management Board and other leaders in the practice to assess our risks and opportunities in relation to sustainability and other topics.

Polices

We maintain a set of policies that support and play an important role in how we operate and for our Roadmap. All our policies are reviewed and updated on regular basis, to ensure they remain aligned with our purpose and reflect our values and business practices in an evolving industry and sustainability landscape. To ensure all policies are well understood throughout the business, we made all related documents available within our internal document management system and have created accessible training resources, including recorded videos for key items.

Risk Management

Cundall recognises the impact of these influences and developed an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework to address risks to our operations and identify opportunities. The Compliance team at Cundall is responsible for the management of our risk framework, the assessment of the risks, engagement with Practice Leaders and responsible personnel as well as monitoring that risks are mitigated wherever possible.

Our identified risks include reputational, operational, strategic, financial and risks associated with ESG. ESG risks include human rights and labour topics, environmental impacts, reputational risks and others. Our Management Board reviews all risks together with all relevant stakeholders, identifies high risk items and then assigns owners and mitigation actions. This review is carried out on an annual basis.

Being a multi-national organisation that operates across a global landscape can make us susceptible to various risks, which can both internal and external influences.
