This year's IWIED theme is #EngineeringIntelligence. How do you think you show #EngineeringExcellence in your work?
I demonstrate engineering excellence by combining technical expertise with strong leadership and teamwork to deliver high quality designs and solutions for successful project outcomes. I proactively identify opportunities, improve processes, and collaborate to tackle complex engineering challenges. For me, excellence means going above and beyond expectations, creating solutions that are technically robust, creatively engineered, and delivered with unwavering commitment to client success.
So much has changed in the 50 years since Cundall was founded. What changes would you like to see in the next 50 years, and how do you think we'll get there?
I’d love to see Cundall not only achieve our Zero Carbon Design 2030 targets but lead the industry in sustainable design across every project. I want us to utilise data‑driven engineering to create smarter, more resilient buildings. We’ll get there by investing in diverse talent, strengthening global collaboration, and embracing emerging technologies that elevate accuracy, creativity, and environmental responsibility, all underpinned by our core values and commitment to being #OneCundall.
What’s a myth about your role that you’d love to bust?
A myth I’d love to bust is that electrical engineers “just deal with wires, wire houses and fix appliances", or that it’s a male only field. In reality, electrical engineering in construction is intelligent, technical, creative, and deeply collaborative, from power strategy and safety design to solving complex coordination challenges. Women are increasingly shaping this industry, leading projects, driving innovation, and delivering engineering solutions that power the built environment.
What’s one experience or milestone in your career that shaped who you are today?
One milestone that shaped who I am today was the opportunity to work internationally in Cundall Singapore. Experiencing new cultures, diverse project types, and different ways of thinking expanded my technical perspective and strengthened my adaptability, confidence, and leadership. Early responsibility accelerated my growth, and collaborating across global teams taught me how to overcome technical and logistical challenges whilst delivering complex engineering projects, shaping how I work today.
